Our team looks forward to speaking with you further regarding how we can support your team through provision of specialized virtual wound consultations.

The Team

The Dermal Deep team is made up of master's prepared, advanced practice nurses, certified in wound, ostomy and continence nursing by the Canadian Nurses Association. Our team of Nurses Specialized in Wound, Ostomy and Continence, are key opinion leaders having served on multiple national wound care guidelines and assisting in the development of the national certification exam for wound, ostomy and continence nurses.

We participate actively in the wound care specialty sitting on a national association board of directors, and our members have been recognized by Nurses Specialized in Wound, Ostomy and Continence Canada with the NSWOCC Presidents Award for excellence in wound, ostomy and continence nursing, awarded to one individual each year for excellence in leadership in the wound, ostomy and continence specialty. Our team members are active researchers. They have recently published literature related to wound and ostomy management topics. In addition to their research background our team also includes a certified change management practitioner recognized by the Change Management Institute.

As educators our team members have educated the NSWOCs of today and tomorrow, having worked as academic advisors, program developers, and as the interim academic chair of the Wound, Ostomy and Continence Institute. Our team is dedicated to providing high quality, evidence based virtual consultative wound care services to improve the health and wellbeing of your facilities patients

Our Process

The consultative process begins when a member of your team identifies a need for specialized wound care services. Information is gathered according to a pre-developed template which is then shared with the Dermal Deep team. The team member assigned will then review the patient data within 72 business hours, assess the images provided and develop a report and recommendations for wound management which is then returned to the organization. The most responsible care provider at the organization will then review the recommendations and select those interventions they wish to proceed with. Our team is happy to follow up with regards to specific questions related to a consultation assessment.

With regards to the pre-developed template for data collection, our team is able to work within your own electronic medical record should you wish, or we are able to provide secure virtual documentation services with information which can be provided virtually through a submission form. We look forward to discussing options with you further to find a process which your organization and team feel would be effective for your clinicians to ensure timely efficient care.

Virtual Services

Advancing telewound care technologies provide our team the ability to provide virtual consultative wound care services to patients at great distances while still allowing for recommendations in their care based on best practices and research based evidence.

Through the use of imaging, and a thorough patient report from the organization our team is able to provide a detailed assessment and consultation record with recommendations for patients care. Thanks to advancing technologies we are able to store and transfer patient data securely between our team and your organization through our virtual wound care platform. Our team is also happy to work with you to provide wound care consultative services directly within your facilities electronic medical record.

The ability for our team to provide virtual services means your patients will not need to wait for a team member to be onsite to provide insight into their wound management. Our team can provide a consultation assessment and recommend management within 72 business hours of receiving a consultation request. The average patient with an infected surgical wound or pressure injury has their length of stay extended by up to 11 days. Telewoundcare allows our team to provide timely support to your patients.
